Meeting of the Board of Directors

April 20, 2009

Esperanza Estates Ramada

Green Valley, AZ

The meeting was called to order at 1:00 by President Thomas Cooke.

Board members present: Bruce Liljegren, Joan Moreaux, Sam Barnard, Stoney Brown, Alexander Reed, and Robert Hunton.

Board members absent: Absent were Joe McCalpin and Barb McCalpin.

Announcements: There were no announcements.

Acceptance of previous minutes: There were no corrections to the March meeting minutes, which are considered approved.

Treasurer’s report: Joan Moreaux gave the treasurer’s report. She provided details of the current financial statements, and reported generally the HOA is operating under budget to this point in the year. All is well with the HOA finances as of this time.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Architectural: Bob Hunton reported a few item are under review.  A situation at 1113 Excelso involving a paint problem was reported by Tom Cooke.  A letter will be sent to the parties who are not in compliance.

Capital Projects: There are no capital projects currently underway.

Common Areas: Stoney Brown reported that all is well with the common areas. Maintenance is being performed as required, without difficulties.

GVCCC: Bruce Liljegren reported briefly on the recent GVCCC activities. A report will be filed with the Periodico editor for publication in the April issue.

Neighborhood Relations: Sam Barnard reported that peace and harmony is prevailing in EE neighborhoods.

Recreational Facilities: Sandy Reed reported that the contract for improvements to the cool decking within the pool enclosure has been let, to Ekonomy Pool Service. Work will begin on May 5.

Hospitality Committee: Sam Barnard reported on the recent activities of the Committee. They have approximately $1,330 on hand. A Hamburger Nite will be held tomorrow, April 21st. Thereafter there will be parties on May 5th (Cinco de Mayo) and on July 4th. Details will follow.

Neighborhood Watch: Mary Beth Wallace reported all is well with the Neighborhood Watch Committee. A recent meeting with the SAV was well attended. Requests were made that any suspicious activity should be reported to 911, and that they should sort it out.

Enhancement Committee: Geri Lindberg reported the Committee has purchased two additional sun/wind screens for the south side of the Ramada and that they will be installed on this coming Friday.

Old Business: There was no old business.

New Business:

The new Ramada sound system is now complete with the installation of a CD player, donated by Craig and Cynthia Surprise.  Eric Ellingson was given thanks for all of his work in the Ramada and elsewhere. His services to the HOA have been invaluable.

The watering system at Sunset Park was refurbished recently and a new water timer installed to control it, along with the watering system within the pool enclosure.

A vote was taken on the request by Leo and Mary Zerher to remove a common area tree that impairs their view. The vote was 6 to 0 to deny the request. The Tree Committee had investigated this request earlier and a special meeting was held to give the Zerhers an opportunity to present their case.

A motion was made to approve a new protocol for dealing with requests to remove common area trees, and it passed unanimously. It will be published in the April Periodico.

A brief discussion of the street condition situation in EE was held.

Sandy Reed reported on a new project for a compilation of EE love stories.
