Good Morning:
The HOA Annual
Meeting held last week at Desert Hills Rec. Center was well
attended. Reports were made by each volunteer committee chair as
well as each of the Board members in charge of specific HOA
functions. Newly elected to the Board for 3 year terms were
Boyd Morse & Craig Surprise, and Tom Cooke was re-elected for
another term. Ramada memorial bricks were awarded to departing
Board members Bob Hunton, Bruce Liljegren & Sandy Reed, to our
former Periodico editor Arlene Boyuls, and to our long-time
annual meeting recording secretary, Jerry Allen. Orders for the
2011 EE directory were taken; copies should be delivered in
about 10 days. Minutes of the meeting, taken by our new
recording secretary, Patty Adler, will appear on the EE web site
when they have been prepared.
The Board wishes to thank each of the volunteers who assisted in
conducting this year's annual meeting, as well as those
attending the meeting. Our attendance this year was
significantly better than it has been in the past. This month's
Periodico has a nice photo spread of those who helped put
together and conduct the meeting. Check it out.
Many thanks to Jim Sage for installing the new memorial bricks
at the Ramada.
Kevin Welsh, one of EE's pickleball aficionados, is organizing a
pickleball competition on Saturdays from 10 to noon at the
courts. Call Kevin (231-838-6851) to learn more, or come on up
to the courts between 10 and noon any Monday, Tuesday, Thursday,
or Sunday, or any Wednesday afternoon beginning at 2 o'clock to
sign up.
Tickets are still available for the Enhancement Team
Dessert Buffet to be held at the Ramada on Jan. 30
starting at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are just $5.00 each, and you may
purchase them by calling Jackie Rautio (269-7864), Barb McCalpin
(867-8067), or Lorna Kitchak (838-0653). Each ticket will
entitle the holder to sample 3 desserts; coffee or tea will be
provided. For entertainment, an old-fashoned Cake Walk is
planned.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR THOSE ON RESTRICTED DIETS
Desserts for persons on gluten-free and diabetic restrictive
diets
will be available at the Buffet.
The Enhancement Team is also putting
out a call to all EE cooks and bakers, to
prepare and donate their favorite desserts for the Dessert
Buffet. For more details, contact one of the Team members noted
above. This event is a fund-raiser for the Enhancement Team, to
help fund their projects, all proceeds of which go to benefit
Esperanza Estates. Your participation will help in these
efforts.
Nancy Moore is organizing a project
to send boxes of needed items to the units of overseas service
personnel with family members in EE. If you are interested in
giving her a family member name, or in helping to assemble the
packages, contact her at 625-2415 to give her your name and
phone number. She will be back in contact with you when the
first meeting of 'box builders' has been scheduled.
A key with a tag ('storage closet')
was found at the Ramada over a week ago. Call 399-0455 and
describe to claim.
The new pool
electrical circuit has been completed, and normal pool operating
hours have been restored. Thanks to Board member Joe McCalpin
for his work painting the new conduit to match the masonry on
the pool enclosure walls.
Marian Mundale is starting an
EE hiking club. So far, 7 residents have
indicated an interest in joining. You may contact Marian at
625-2238 if you are interested in joining the group or to get
more details. There will be a meeting at the Ramada at 10:00
a.m. on January 26th for anyone interested in hiking with the
group.
Many thanks to Terry Shay for
pruning and cleaning up the palm trees in Esperanza Park.
First issue of the new, on-line Periodico came out last Saturday morning, just in time to read
with your morning coffee. If you already receive the Monday
Morning Memo, you should have received an email with a link to
the Periodico. For those without email access or the ability to
open PDF files on the web site, a limited number of print copies
will be made available at the Ramada within a week of each
monthly board meeting. Kudos to the editor-in-chief, Denise
Roessle, and her team, who promise even more features in future
issues. Thanks also to Craig & Cynthia Surprise for helping with
the transition to an on-line format. Denise is interested in
recruiting additional team members, so contact her (droessle@mac.comm)
if you like to write or always wanted to be a reporter.
Have a good week. See you at the Dessert Buffet on Sunday.
