you can call the Elves through Jackie

New Social Events Planned
A new group of hospitality planners met on Monday to discuss
ideas for some EE social events. Marla Ries will
serve as the committee's coordinator, and members will
volunteer to chair the various events. If you are interested in
being on the committee or just helping out at an event or two,
contact Marla at 360-708-0855.
See articles below about upcoming events. |
Hospitality Hosts Holiday Party and Carols
The annual EE holiday social gathering will take place at the
Ramada on Thursday,
December 19.
To start off the festivities, the EE Carolers will sing (some of
us will thoughtfully just hum) at several locations (see next
week's memo for times and places) around EE from approximately 4:00
to 5:00 p.m. A
potluck party will follow at the Ramada, starting at 5:15
p.m. Please
bring an appetizer or holiday baked goods to share. Hot
chocolate, coffee and special holiday punch will be available.
If you would like to help at the potluck call Marla
Ries at 360-708-0855.
If you would like to be a caroler (or would be willing to drive
carolers in your golf cart), contact Cynthia Surprise at
cjsurprise@verizon.net. |
EE Adventure Group
There's still time to sign up for the first group adventure to
San Javier Mission (the "White Dove of the Desert"), which will
take place on Thursday,
December 26 at 11:00 a.m. EE
resident and mission docent Jolene
Hartje will
lead us on a tour of the mission. It will be a nice relaxing way
to recover from the holiday and learn a bit about local history
at the same time. If you are interested in going, contact Cynthia
Surprise at cjsurprise@verizon.net.
We will arrange car pooling. |
EE Chili Cook-off
Although Christmas is still two weeks away, it's not too
early to start thinking about enjoyable things to do in the new
year! The reorganized Hospitality Committee thinks it might be
fun to shake things up a bit. Rather than the well-loved Burger
Night in January, the committee is planning a Chili Cook-off for Tuesday
January 14th. Two residents have already offered to enter their
own chili recipes. Are you known famously (or infamously) for
your chili, or want to try a new chili recipe? Now is the time
to start planning! More information will be provided in the
coming weeks. My mouth is already watering. If you would like to
enter your chili in the contest, contact Bill
Berdine at 344-7301
or whberdine@roadrunner.com. |
Holiday Guests?
Having guests for the holidays? If you would like to borrow baby
equipment (such as car seats and playpens) or an inflatable
queen size bed from the Enhancement Team, contact Lorna at 838-0653. |
We're in Hot Water Now
In a good way. Recreational Facilities Director Tom
Cooke reports that the
17 year old hot water heater serving the pool restrooms was
changed to a new high-efficiency unit. No more cold showers. |
Tree Donation Thanks to Denise and Henry Roessle for their donation of a small mesquite tree to the EE Gardeners.
The Gardeners will plant the tree in one of the parks. Any
resident who would like to donate plants can contact Bill
Berdine at 344-7301.
The Gardeners are willing to remove the plant from your yard.

Community Chorus Concerts
The Community Chorus will be presenting its annual Christmas
concert at the Valley Presbyterian Church on Monday,
December 16th at 7:30 pm and
again on Tuesday,
December 17th at 2:30 pm. Tickets are $10 each and can
be purchased at the door. If you'd rather avoid the line at the
door, our own Mary "Voice of an Angel" Hess is
a member of the chorus and is selling advance tickets. Phone
her at 398-4829. |
Hang the Brightest Star upon the Highest Bough
EE thanks go to Jim
"Monkey Man" Kitchak for
single-handedly placing the giant star high on the palm at EE
(aka "Flag") Park. Next year we'll promote a "Highest Decoration
Award." |
Can You Hear Me Now? Mark your calendar for the Monday,
December 16, EE Board meeting. Starts at 1 pm in
the Ramada. An addition to the usual agenda items is a
discussion of the acoustic tile installation in the Ramada.
EE residents have already commented that the small portion
already completed has made a difference for them. While
you're at it, you might want to put the Annual Meeting on
your 2014 calendar on Monday, January 20.
